Who We Are

In May of 1998, we opened “Genie’s Friends Daycare” at Trawood Dr., and we had a terrific year; from 14 children enrolled, we grew to 50. 1999 was even better, but our problem was where to accommodate all the children who knocked on our doors, so we started looking for more space. In the first quarter of 1999, we found another location at Yarbrough and Montana. We started the remodeling, which lasted for more than eight months. Finally, on December 15, 1999, we had the grand opening. Again, we started the Yarbrough location with three children (that we brought from the Trawood location), and six months later, everything was history. But Trawood was still very small and had to look for something else early in 2002. We found the Montwood Dr. location to have more than three times the Trawood capacity. It took another year to go to capacity at 11660 Montwood Dr. Ste O. A good opportunity came along at the end of 2004. The Head Start by the Yarbrough location moved its operation to a new building and offered its old building for sale. We bought and remodeled to our purpose with more than twice the Yarbrough capacity. In February of 2005, we moved to our new location: 10570 Shannon Place. In 2006, we were close to capacity. The following year, our enrollment grew even more, but unfortunately, the rent expense also grew at a good rate. After ten years in operations, we started thinking about our own new building for the Montwood location, and late in 2010, we found our new home. On June 28, 2011, we had our groundbreaking ceremony, and on April 7, 2012, the grand opening of our new home: 11761 Edgemere Blvd. At these two centers, we will witness the everyday growth of all the children, their opportunities, their dreams, and our dreams.
